16.9.12 The History of the Xiur Race
In the rugged terrain of the Great Mountains of Gongen, the Xiur race emerged as beings of immense strength and resilience. The earliest Xiur were miners, delving deep into the heart of the mountains, unearthing treasures and precious minerals. However, the Xiur were not alone in the mountains. They shared their territory with the Ryadai, gnome-like creatures with whom they engaged in a constant and bitter struggle. Accusations and hostilities were rampant between the two races, with each side claiming the other would steal their treasures and homes. Additionally, the Awakening would soon introduce another element to this conflict, as Moradeim's influence hardened the skin of the Xiur, making it as hard as granite, as well as significantly increasing their size and stature.
This turmoil between the Xiur and Ryadai escalated into a devastating war that spilled out of the mountains and into the civilized world in the year 448 AD. The war was brutal and unrelenting, with both sides seeking allies and engaging in ruthless tactics. The Xiur, with their physical might and strategic prowess, eventually emerged victorious, forcing the Ryadai into near extinction. The victory left the Xiur in control of the Great Mountain and its rich mines but also marked them with the scars of a war that had taken a heavy toll.
During this time, it is believed that some Xiur, perhaps taking refuge from the conflict, ventured into the frozen tundra of northern Aetherius. Their transformation would have allowed them to thrive there where even the hardiest norrjin may have struggled. These xiur would have found the Living Mountain and settled upon it, later sharing this land with the asuwan and gargoyles.
