Switching Circles

It is now possible to switch circles without losing professions from your old circle. This means that players can now hold professions from two or three different circles.

There is a new command: SWITCH CIRCLE <circle>. This will clear off your current profession and switch your circle to antimagick, magick, or demonic. There is an AGREE first. You can then SWITCH PROFESSION <profession> to one in the new circle if you have one, or go obtain a new profession.

Please note that the new command is now the only way to switch circles - you cannot learn a profession from a different circle, or be induced into a guild, even if you have forgotten all your professions.

Switching circles may come with a lesson cost attached, depending on when you have last switched circles.

* If you are not keeping any professions from your -current- circle, there is no fee.

* If you are keeping professions, and have last switched 30 RL days ago or less, you pay 900 lessons.

* If you are keeping professions, and have last switched 60 RL days ago or less, you pay 600 lessons.

* If you are keeping professions, and have last switched 90 RL days ago or less, you pay 300 lessons.

* If you are keeping professions, and have last switched more than 90 RL days ago, there is no fee.

* The time of last circle switch is only tracked starting now - the next switch is therefore free for everyone.

* You can use SWITCH CIRCLE COST to check if there's any cost for you.

In addition, you will need to quit your city, guild, and cult/sect before the SWITCH CIRCLE command will work.

You obviously cannot switch to a profession from a different circle than your current one. You cannot forget one either (for now).

The output of the PROFESSIONS command has been updated to show everything you have, including other circle ones.

IMPORTANT: Skillset ranks will not cross over into your new circle. In other words, Weaponmastery for Templars is not Weaponmastery for Runeguards, and they need to be learned separately.

This information is also available in HELP SWITCH CIRCLES.

As always, if there are any bugs, please report them in the usual way.

However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
