Classlead

Hello Imperian,

After a bit of a delay, we are starting another round of class specific classleads. Now up: engineers.

We will leave the round open for about two weeks to get in reports.

Some tips for this round:
- Engineering is expensive in terms of comms and gold, but that's not the focus of this class lead. Focus on the mechanics for now.
- That being said, if there are problems like "it is impossible to find x comm for all the gold in Antioch" that is something that we'd like to hear about
- You can suggest large changes, but those changes should be fleshed out. If you want focus shots to be reworked to use some different balance, for example, you should provide ideas of what all the shots would cost. The Monkey's Paw fills in blanks.
- "Engineer is the only class without X, it should have X" will be rejected outright. Classes have weaknesses and strengths. You need to explain why there is a balance problem
- Proposed changes should take into account the class overall. For example, cremate may not be a practical way to kill people in most instances, but why does engineer need a different kill method?
- Deleting skills is no fun. Try to think of alternatives like an additional channel or hinder if you think a skill should be removed.
- Copying skills is also no fun. Give engineer parry is boring. Give engineer a tiny gyrocopter that can protect a single body part is more interesting. (Do not literally suggest a tiny gyrocopter)

Most of all remember that explanations go a long way. Saying "engineers should focus on having a bleed based kill route, but that's not viable without my change" goes a lot further than saying increase bleed damage with my change. Although they sound similar, knowing your premise that bleed should be the primary kill route impacts decisions for other classleads and how things are balanced.

Happy suggesting!

However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
