The Trusting Fool

Having heard the news that the second tablet had been obtained, Tomas eagerly awaited word from its holder in the library in Caanae. Mena reached out to Tomas, informing him that she possessed the shard and requested that he come to the Demonic Council of Khandava to discuss the contents of the tablet. Tomas, ever the trusting sort, agreed without reservations. Despite the warnings of Shou, Mercer, Orius, and Adelena, Tomas agreed to meet with Mena so that she could lead him to the location of the meeting.

As Tomas set out on his journey to Khandava, the first warning signs of a nefarious plot became apparent as Aleutia begin to interrogate Tomas. Demanding answers about the first tablet discovered, she uttered the phrase that Tomas would hear frequently over the next hours, and will haunt his nightmares for the rest of his life. "Quickly now", Aleutia demanded, and though the demanding words sent a chill down Tomas's spine, still he met Mena and traveled to Khandava.

Upon his arrival at Monarch Square, Tomas asked to be shown the second tablet. Aleutia informed him first that he must show the first tablet. Tomas explained that he did not carry the tablet, preferring to entrust its security in the hands of others, knowing that to do otherwise would be foolish. He was dismayed when he was informed that he had provided the wrong answer.

Thus was Tomas's nightmare born by these hostile words. What followed was hours of interrogation and torture, as the assembled Khandavans and Stavennites continually pumped Tomas for any information he had about the temple in the Shaahri desert, about the tablets, and most of all about the mysterious weapon that is rumoured to be housed in the ancient temple.

Aleutia, Kanthari, Ahkan, Cordilia, Menoch, Ander, and Mena watched on as Lalaith roughly held Tomas in an iron grip. A brief mistake gave Tomas a false hope as Mena distracted Lalaith momentarily and mistakenly led Tomas away from the group assembled at the square. Tomas took the opportunity to try and make a run for it, but his lack of knowledge of Khandava's geography foiled him and he was taken again. Lalaith would not make the same mistake twice.
