Late in the month of Bellum, and after years of construction on their temple, the ascendari of the Sect of Storms decided it was time to seek out a fire to light the storm-forge, and to begin construction of a weapon worthy of their Queen. Not just any fire would do, and after deciding there weren't enough bodies to burn, Xuli challenged her sect members to seek out an even greater flame - one from the Dread Flame herself. To the pyramid within the Yhumara they went, seeking out a flame to be had, and finding only a dagger for their troubles, the sect of storms went back to searching out a worthy flame. Xuli's theft of the dagger would not be ignored by Samaos, however, and the Dread Flame rose to challenge her in the Bardosi.

Refusing to return the stolen property, Xuli instead made light of the situation, apparently intent on starting a fight as others gathered and slew the host of fire elementals Samaos had brought with her. Soon the entities were at battle, and the fight leaned heavily in favor of the morphae, who scorched Xuli with her burning touch. Driving back the ascendari, Samaos thought herself victorious as her whip of flames wrapped itself around Xuli's neck. A soft chuckle drew Samaos back to the battle at hand as Xuli's body took on the aspects of a blizzard, destroying the flaming whip that held her at bay. Her opponent caught off guard, Xuli drove her icy fist into the chest of Samaos, relieving the Dread Flame of the closest thing to a heart the morphae could claim.

And so, on the 23rd of Bellum, the Dread Flame Samaos was snuffed out.
