Within the sacred confines of the Wildgrove in the Khandava Forest, the
faintest traces of a song were heard by the keen Sylayan hearing of
Rasca Anar. The forests are completely silent, save for the secret
whispering of the trees, as the haunting voice lead him to a copse of
trees, where one strange elm stands noticeably out of place among the
others. The undergrowth parted to reveal a dignified man known only as
Erulehto, an Arborealic Sage.
Erulehto, while his sudden appearance was certainly strange, was no
stranger to Rasca. Previously, the Sage had ventured out to the Khandava
Council, looking to speak with the present-day Arboreals he knew he
would find there. Part of his need for this was to verify the survival
of the guild, and part of it was simple curiosity. He had promised the
Arboreals that the answers they sought about him and the mysterious
Elmwood he had then spoken of would be answered, but he warned that many
moons would pass until their next meeting. Nearly five years later, the
cryptic Erulehto appeared again to Rasca, asking him to gather his guild
for the revealing of a lifetime - the revealing of the "Lalwan Eryn," or
Sacred Elmwood.
Upon entering through the strange tree known as Lebethron, the Arboreals
looked out upon the gorgeous landscape of the Elmwood with wonder and
awe. After seeing their fill of the scenery, they congregated within a
hollow, living tree known as the Sacred Elm. The haunting voice which
had lured Rasca proved to be that of Mehtere's, an unearthly Sylayan
beauty and ancient Druidic Priestess who resided within that tree. As
they listened, she spoke to them of the history of the Lalwan Eryn, the
home of the ancient Arboreals, and the origins of their skills.
She told them of the barrier she upheld which had kept the Eryn cloaked
from view for over four-hundred years, and the seeming strain it was
causing her to continue upholding it. Only until very recently did her
strength begin to wane, causing the Lebethron tree to escape from the
barrier and to appear in the Egeria Forest. Hearing this, Caitlin Ruadh,
The High Priestess of Nature, and the rest of the Arboreals pledged
their guild's support and protection of the Lalwan Eryn, should the
cloak ever be dissolved. Mehtere, who had once sworn to keep the Eryn
cloaked for all time, was duly swayed by their vows of loyalty, and
agreed to release the Eryn from her grasp.
Although it seemed to be no more than a ripple in the sky, appearing
briefly only to collapse upon itself and vanish, the releasing of the
barrier was a significant matter. For the first time in four hundred
years, outsiders could tread the twisting paths and walk alongside a
generation new to them. Many secrets lay within the ancient archways and
hallowed groves of the Eryn, but those stories are yet to be told.
