In 428 AD, the month of Tenebrae, the night sky was illuminated by a
strangely bright light from the Gongen Mountains. Quickly following the
strange illumination was a large boom and rush of air, leading many to
believe some large explosion had occured.
Quick investigation by Thurgan, a Cleric, led to discovery of a series
of mines underneath the Gongen Mountains that had previously been sealed
by patrols of Kinsarmar in ages past. Swiftly peoples from all over the
continent raced to explore, hoping to discover why such a place had been
sealed away.
The mines were found to be almost completely empty, save for the ghost
of a dwarf, Garhun. The ghost claimed to be that of a dwarf who fell
defending the mines from an orc invasion earlier, whilst the doors were
being closed. Interrogation revealed little, as the ghost's memories
were befuddled and confused, though many sought to discover what 'door'
he had guarded. Little more could be gained, leaving the investigators
to explore themselves.
After some time a riddle hidden elsewhere in the mine was solved,
revealing the key to open a wall of rock elsewhere. Leading the way
after he solved the puzzle, the explorers rushed into the newly found
cavern, following Rumal, the Arboreal. Beyond was found a place thought
lost forever, the Dwarven City of Kaark'Krazul itself!
Explorers immediately rushed into the city, only to find the gates
closing behind their backs, trapping them within. After discovering
their capture, many sought answers from the Elders of Kaark'Krazul, who
gathered to interrogate those who had entered their home.
For days the adventurers argued with the three Elders over trade,
Magick, and safety, hoping to convince them to open their gates
permenantly. While arguements along the line of logic presented by
Rivaidan, and discussions of knowledge outside by many convinced two,
the third, Eota Shalebolt remained unconvinced. After some time, the
Justicars and the Orders of both Illuminas and Vahin promised the city
protection. Eota asked the group to perform a task for him, which they
did quickly, slaying a monster that lived within the lake outside the
city. Eota convinced, the groups left successfully, and Kaark'Krazul's
gates shall remain open to those who may solve the riddle to enter.
With her gates now open, many may come and go as they please, allowing
free exploration of the great city of Kaark'Krazul. However the dwarves
are yet scared, and many stay within their homes, refusing to speak to
those outside. Now it only remains to be seen if any challenges will
arise, and if they do, will the groups who promised be capable of
keeping them?
