About Mookie!

Written by: Cap'n Mookie Iolar Mog, Wild Pup of Asaka
Date: Thursday, January 25th, 2007
Addressed to: Everyone

Mookie was created some years ago on a whim. Partly because I missed the
roleplay I'd left behind in Aetolia with the Druids and partly because
her format was buzzing around my skull dying to be given life. I already
had a main character with a lot going on when I made her but in a matter
of months she'd taken over and become my main. People loved (and hated)
her and it really excited me as a pro-roleplayer to have that kind of
affect on people. And of-course, I love attention!

Why am I telling you all this?

Imperian used to be my sole source of roleplaying and the only way I
could exercise that need to escape reality. Though, when the drama
started leaking into the real world (bullying and harrassment) through
forums, messenger clients, and then back again, spoiling the roleplay...
it in turn spoiled my appetite for what had become a large part of my
life and further ruined what had become a pride and joy character of
mine (I don't spend nearly as much as I've spent on Mookie on anything
else). Now I'm not writing this to bitch and moan, or name and shame.
I'm writing this to hopefully settle the demons once and for all.

It's astonishing how long vicious rumours and twistings of the truth
have continued to spread about me and my character. The tracking and
keeping records of my alts. The flaming my posts on forums. In short -
the alienation and apparent fixation. Whenever I come back to Mookie
(because believe it or not I still manage to find enjoyment in playing
her) I encounter at least one or two questions that relate back to the
nasty and inaccurate things said so long ago, questions from people I've
never met and who've heard these things through the fourth person down
the chain! And you know, one of the things people want to know is my
real life gender because apparently they're insecure. Well, I'm male.
And Mookie is one of 4 female characters out of 25+ that I roleplay
through a number of games. I don't see why this is to be peoples
business and I've held off writing this kind of post for the longest
time because I didn't see the need to address it. But the obviously IS a
need if at least 2 years on I'm still hearing about the slander and the
rubbish.

I apologise to those that had, like myself, considered it a buried and
done with subject. And I apologise to the administration if they feel
this isn't a relevant topic or subject matter. But you know, reporting
bullying and harrassment opposed to approaching the matter head-on as
Mookie would seems more appropriate. Theres also that I don't know who
is behind this apparent hate campaign that should've fizzled out LONG
ago.

Mookie will continue to be played as long as I have the inspiration and
the desire to play here. I do have friends here and I've struggled to
find a better textual environment than this one otherwise I'd have
abandoned Imperian for good all those years ago.

Let 2007 be a clean slate, eh?

Anybody that'd like to email me about this matter or just make a new
friend in Islington or London (the english one!) you can contact me on
redwallfan2002@hotmail.com And I have a profile-heaven profile I think
thats still active through a character site of mine...
www.freewebs.com/redrat -- if you go to the 'about the creator' part.

All the best,

Rob

2021 and Beyond

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
