I pluck up my blade of Defiance
And shield myself with the crest of Stubborness
To battle you in deadly duel...
...I hear you fiercely roar
I parry, then thrust forward straight and true
I strike you with a triumphant cry
Our swords lock together to tango...
...you and pathetic Romantic Lore
My mouth grins as my eyes flash
As a heavy shield of Blindness surrounds my heart
And I shrug you off...
...overturning you once more
But I did not count on your secret weapon
When you summoned forth the net of Persistance
To cast upon me and shatter Blindness...
...clenching my heart's core
I did not expect you to wield Compassion again
In duality to strike at me with Tenderness too
Never did such a battle change my life...
...I felt I was the loser sore
Overwhelming Emotions snuck in to leer at me
'Defeated you are' it sneered
I trembled when I dropped my sword and shield...
...they clattered to the floor
Tears sprung to my eyes and I would have faltered
If you had not covered me with your healing cloak of Time
And I think- if you didn't exist to fight against...
...what do you exist for?
