TO LOVE IS TO HURT

happiness has never burned so bright
nor sorrow sunk to lower depths
and love could never be so light
so that its rays could burn like hell

why then does this succor
sear?

why does this safety cause such
fear?

lost and found
free and bound
I view the world with dazed clarity
and court my sorrow merrily
I have learned
To love is to hurt
