Sleepless nights

Sleepless nights I lie here turning.
As my thoughts continue burning.
Thinking of the times long since past
Weeping over those who did not last.

Try as I might, I can not rest
Too many thoughts upon my chest
Desires that we all wish to find.
Nightmares that plague my mind

We all seek love, and the right to dream.
We all seek power, glory, and esteem.
I fear to lose the warmth I might gain
and fear that I may never feel it again

These darkened nights, my soul does cry
For it knows what it may lose if it tries to fly.
Is the dream truly worth the strife?
I shall try anything, if it may improve my life.

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Letum, in the year 424 AD.
