A Warning

"A Warning"

Some proclaim love with words
And some with actions so fair
I say love is for the birds
And you, oracle, to beware.

How can you trust in a dog
Who's faithless and cowardly too?
Not a prince, but a frog
Loving him is a decision you'll rue.

How can you trust in a cur
Who doesn't know what fidelity means?
No honesty here, just a liar
The very emotion of love, he demeans.

Do you think it will differ for you?
Don't let naivete rule your heart.
Do you think that his love might be true?
Just wait until the arguments start.

Shall I name all the women he's "loved"?
His use of the word is a shame.
Suffice it to say, he's a bug.
A coward, not worthy of his name.

An unfaithful cur, and cowardly too
Heed this warning, little oracle,
Lest you find this happening to you
For him, love is not real, but a tool.

I end my warning with this:
Find someone faithful to love
It is not jealousy that makes me say this
But fear that he'll break another dove.

Penned by my hand on the 21st of Bellum, in the year 460 AD.
