I was alone

I sat there in the dark and I was alone,
No shadows on the wall of the cave for me,
Light had no place in my heart, for I was alone.
I couldn't even see my own shadow, hiding from myself
Yet I know deep down it was still a part of me.
But I could not see it, because I was alone.

No silent whisper for all was silent on deaf ears,
No cry of joy, no weeping of tears,
All is quite, sorrow cannot break the spell.
You deserve this fate I say, to myself this I tell.
And thus there I play in the dark, there I stay in the dark,
And I am all alone.

But then one day out comes to play an angel, like a falling star,
She laughs and sings, does merry things, such joy brought from on far.
Then as swift as she had come, she vanished from my sight
And with a cry from way on high, beckoned me from the night.

Do not leave, the lone walls crowed, tis loneliness that is your home.
But on I walked into the light, no longer would its rays I fight
To find myself again there walked I on, to find my angel I did roam.

Penned by my hand on the 14th of Aequitas, in the year 500 AD.
