To Dance Alone

I close my eyes as the drums beat slow, long, hard, fast
My hands move soft as rising tide, up, down, side to side
I smile with the rhythm and a single step
Left foot forward, circle and a step

The drums beat faster as the song begins to sing
My heart moves up with the rising beat
My body sees my hands and moves to follow in the song
Left foot forward, circle and a step

I move in repetition, the ressonance the same
Left foot always moving, with nothing else to change
The dance caught in a current, swirling patterns of 'the same'
My eyes they open slowly, the drummers still their hands

I glance upon the empty space between my outstretched hands
The cold that fills such spances stinges, the air is bitter sweet
The rhythm dies in painful death, silence stills my feet
My heart sinks lower then the sounds, deep into the sands

A viel is pulled across my face...
A gate is closed, a time has passed.
I fortify my heart to stand the cold
I know my love will last

Dassa

Penned by my hand on the 7th of Vita, in the year 520 AD.
