Vulnerable Child. Poetry Contest/ Free form. Entry #2

Stretched thin across a broken face,
Chipped teeth, bruised skin,
A solitary smile, find it's place.

A broken child,
A breathless beauty,
This once calm face, pain has defiled.

She's barely breathing,
She's holding on,
Her pain is evident, she's clearly grieving.

You touch her cheek,
You take her hand,
She clings to you, her fingers weak.

She's falling,
She's calling,
She's pleading, for you.

You hold her close,
You whisper her name,
She takes a deep breath, she begins to compose.

You were there when she cried,
You were there when she grieved,
You were there when she felt, her spirit had died.

She's falling,
She's calling,
She's pleading, for you.

Her soul mate, her love,
Her dearest, oldest friend,
Her knight in shining armour,
Her hero, til the end.

Tell her you're there,
Let her feel your touch,
Show her your mercy,
Give her your love.

She's falling,
She's calling,
She's pleading, for you.

--------This poem was inspired by two of the most amazing men in my
life, my best friend J.M and my fiance L.M. I love you both, and I know
this doesn't exactly put how I feel into words, but there really aren't
any words to describe emotions. So a thank-you, of sorts. This one's for
you.--------

Penned by my hand on the 13th of Artificium, in the year 533 AD.

Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021
