Cerulean Lilacs

Cerulean lilacs, fragrant and fair,
early to bud after winter's sharp bite,
rising slowly in the morning's warm light,
usher in a season of springtime air.
Leaves budding out from the forest's great trees,
elated birds singing their cheerful tunes,
and gentle rainstorms in the afternoons -
native blue lilacs witness each of these.
Living long through the season of rebirth,
indigo lilacs slowly fade away,
leaving petals in a royal display
as they fall against summer's sun-kissed earth.
Cerulean lilacs, spring's mild omen,
serving the turning of the Wheel again.

This was the first time I tried to combine acrostics with sonnets.
I tried to describe a different stage of spring in each quatrain to
illustrate the stages of lilacs.

Penned by my hand on the 20th of Bellum, in the year 533 AD.
