You

For an old friend...

I read the words you whispered
To me so long ago now
I wonder where have you gone
What ever became of you
I know I played my part in this
That I drove you away
But I can't help but wonder
What if I had gone your way
Was it all just a lie you told
Did you ever really care
Sometimes I was so close to believing
Other times I wanted you to go
There will always be a question
Hovering at the back of my mind
Because there are moments I miss you
And then others not at all
We will never know now
How bad or good it could have been.

Penned by my hand on the 2nd of Halitus, in the year 584 AD.
