4v4 Bracket Details

There is a formal structure for teams that will be participating in the tournament. Team leaders can add people to their team, set members as active/inactive for the next match, and give their team a name.

Each team can have a maximum of 6 people. You cannot remove someone from your team. Each team can only have, at most, 4 people active at one time. This allows your team to maintain 4 alternates should some members of your team be unable to participate during one of the scheduled sessions.

Each member of your team who participates in a match will receive a participation point. If your team places in the tournament and receives a prize, the prize will be divided amongst the team members according to the ratio of matches participated in. For example, if Jack participates in 6 matches, and Jill participates in 4 matches, and their team comes in first, Jack will receive 30 tournament points and Jill will receive 20 tournament points.

The team tournament will begin with a round-robin phase where every single team faces every other team once. The teams are then ranked in order according to the number of wins they have. The top 8 teams in wins after the round-robin phase will move on to a single-elimination bracket tournament. In the relatively likely event that we have less than 8 teams participating, all teams will advance but higher ranked teams will earn byes in the first round of the bracket. Depending on the number of teams and the length of time it takes to wrap up the round-robin matches, we may use a double-elimination bracket instead.

The #1 team will face the #8 team, the #2 team will face the #7 team, the #3 team will face the #6 team, the #4 team will face the #5 team.

Play will move on through the bracket until one team is left standing. If, at the end of play, head-to-head matchups do not reveal a clear top 10, we will set up consolation matches to determine those.

Matches will be set up in all of the arenas (we will be co-opting the city arenas for these games). At the time that your match is set up, you will be instantly moved to the arena, along with the rest of your team, to the same room. You will have 3 minutes to prepare, and then your match will automatically start.

The match will last for 15 minutes. The object is to kill everyone on the opposing team. If you do not kill everyone on the opposing team after 15 minutes, the winner of the match will be determined by the team that earned the most kills. If both teams have earned the same number of kills, then the team that first reached the tied number of kills wins. If neither team kills anyone at all, then you're all a bunch of pansies and should quit Imperian.

Penned by my hand on the 6th of Vita, in the year 635 AD.

However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
