Drawn from her meditations within the virulent storms of the world, Xuli, the Storm-forged Queen descended onto the realm with a thunderous greeting from an old rival. Marrow, an undead jackal loyal to the once-alive diabolus Nyrohi raced through the lands, baying a challenge to the ascendari.
Bewildered by the commotion, the young entity Xochipilli dutifully followed after the beast, and attempted to draw Marrow back into seclusion to no avail. It was to Xuli's rage that, in her absence, her once rival sect who had dropped to a cult was now fully risen once more, with an entity to call their own as well.
With a flick of her wrist, Xuli drew the pair apart, allowing Marrow to lunge towards her in what would become a harrowing scuffle. The undead jackal fell before the onslaught of Xuli, who then turned to direct her ire upon the hapless entity. In an embarrassingly one-sided battle, the ascendari soon kicked Xochipilli to the ground, vowing Marrow, and the remainder of the Jackals should have remained as dead as Nyrohi.
A fractal of lightning coalesced into Xuli's hand, forming a spear. As the storm-wreathed ascendari stepped back to aim at Xochipilli's heart, Marrow bit down with the last of his strength upon her ankle. In her pain and distraction, Xochipilli lassoed Xuli in a desperate ploy with a garland of flowers, dragging her into the shadows of the ground as the world above became eerily still.
With little warning, two figures erupted from the ground, revealing the newly transfigured Vespasien, the Veiled Underking and a lifeless statue of the now-dead Xuli. Greeted by a chorus from the carrion scavengers and insects of the world, the diabolus disappeared in a frigid gust of air.
In the wake of the battle, storm elementals have sprung up over the Seven Lakes Basin, birthed from the energy and blood of the scuffling entities. Mortals quickly descended upon the scene with their weapons and pickaxes. Upon death, the elementals were discovered to drop a storm-shrouded piece of essence, which mortals could then mine with a pickaxe and secret back to their to infuse into their sects and cults altars.
