Beware the ways of a hag

A child running for her life, and an old hag, twisted and warped in
mind, make for an unusual situation that even Stavenn could not ignore.
Lady Daemynia responding to a hag's demands in Stavenn for the return of
her slave child, soon found herself in the shifting swamps of a
Festering Bog.

As the hag and Daemynia spoke, it was agreed that Daemynia would seek
out the child, whom the hag claimed was her slave, the last one of
Ulriead's family to feel her warped touch. Unbeknownst to the hag,
Daemynia had her own ideas on just what she or Stavenn would do. Upon
returning to Stavenn, she had the city help her seek out a lost child
who was eventually found by Tonbee, where she had been cowering in a
strange orchard.

She was wooed with promises of food and the return to her father, while
Daemynia once more returned to the Festering Bog to seek out the hag. It
was agreed that Selishan, the hag would return to Stavenn with her, to
claim the child. As they moved through the bog, Daemynia graciously
allowed the hag to bring one of her beasts as protection, with the
understanding that she was to control her beast at the risk of death.
Naturally, the hag agreed under such duress.

As the trio entered the gates of Stavenn, Lord Trez and a couple others
stood watch over the lost girl named Aridleii, and a parley began. It
soon became apparent to the hag that Stavenn would give nothing without
some wheeling and dealing, but it was not until Daemynia laid a blade to
the girl's neck, informing the hag that dead, the girl was worth nothing
to her...that the hag took quick and decisive action. She grabbed the
girl slave by the hair and began barking some unknown words just as she
fled the gates, leaving a few of her cherished beasts behind.

Soon Stavenn found themselves battling the slithering mirebeasts the hag
claimed as her own, finding them powerful, yet pulling together the city
soon rid their streets of these atrocities. It was not long after that
Lord Trez and Lady Daemynia sought out the hag, only to learn that old
she may be, she knew a few tricks and amidst a challenging call the hag
quickly rid herself of the annoyance. She was told that she would not be
forgotten and that they, Stavenn, would return...the very idea sending
her into fits of cackling laughter as she awaits them.

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Solis, in the year 493 AD.

However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…
