Riddles spread by the voices of the Elements themselves. This is a dream
that many cannot even imagine, and yet, this occurred on Aequitas of 531
AD. Riddles, born upon the breath of four elementals, arrived to bespeak
those of power within Stavenn, Celidon, Kinsarmar and Khandava. The
Firedrake went to Victor Farrell, a warlord of Stavenn at the time while
the Golem
traveled to Nemphy Eledhwen, an Advisor of Celidon. The Undine traveled
to
bespeak two Ereges of Kinsarmar, Tallasar Kith'Vahni and Doxedon Sa'Gael
as the Zephyr traveled to bespeak Rayalan Kith'Vahni, a Caliph of
Khandava. To each they gave a riddle to solve, for in the solution, was
a treasure to be found.
Once solved, everyone was led to a place declared a place of peace.
Victor, being the first to arrive with Celidon being last, each person
and members of their respective homes were suddenly now in a location
known as Eleuni Skye. Eleuni was deemed a place of study, and was run,
at the time, by a head priest known as Akash. It was then that Akash
implored of all gathered for knowledge from the libraries of the realms
to replace the University's, claiming that now that the University was
open to the world, it was a brilliant opportunity for everyone involved.
From that point on, people were either suspicious or eager, and
rightfully so. Many distrusted Akash while others wished to take
advantage of this tremendous opportunity. Regardless of how it was
views, it was then Draven bespoke upon the public news, deeming massive
threads to the University due to groves being imprinted there. Akash,
finding the threat substantial, immediately caved and deemed that there
would be no totems, groves, monoliths or any magickal defense of any
kind. This led the elementals, otherwise known as the Four, to act.
Approaching the person who had donated the most, Mathiu Reopev, they
quickly asked him to gather those he trusted. Immediately he did so,
gathering to his side those that were awake at the time that he trusted:
Tallasar Kith'Vahni, Rayalan Kith'Vahni, Doxedon Sa'Gael, Lalaith
Amakirr, and Keijima Elith, and it was there that they listened to the
Elementals' plea. Akash was not the rightful head of the University, and
it seemed that he was out for personal gain to benefit things that were
not for the purity of magick. To solve this problem, rituals that had
been lost long ago would need to be performed to revive the memories
within the Four Elemental priests that had yet to be remembered so that
they could fight against Akash. In order to do this, they would require
a series of ritual items that had been taken by Akash and hidden away.
That night ended with the grouping of people, Mathiu included, being
deemed as the Trusted. Whether or not they believed the Zephyr was
inconsequential. All agreed to secrecy, as they saw the need.
Not long afterwards, the arrival of a Mad Priest in Kinsarmar began to
help those Trusted who searched for the missing items. From his dreams
came riddles that everyone had to work to decode, eventually leading
both Kinsarmar and Khandava as a whole to becoming Trusted in their own
rights. As a collaborative effort, everyone worked together to find all
of the items and bring them together. However, the problem of the
rituals was still a prominent one, and the Four deemed that they needed
to be written anew. The task fell to Rayalan, who in Mathiu's unintended
slumber, had taken lead in the efforts to achieve Akash's downfall. She
gathered people to her side to write the first of the rituals, the
Ritual of the Wind.
The Ritual of Wind became the first promising success, where all those
involved confronted and beat back the efforts of Stavennites who had
allied themselves to Akash's cause. The Magickers involved were able to
beat them back, and the priest of the Wind soon regained those memories
lost. However, this success was also in light of a massive loss. Prior
to this ritual, the Golem had died before the eyes of several Trusted by
Akash's hand. Ultimately, this meant that the ritual of Earth could not
be performed, for the Golem had to be at the ritual of Earth for it to
succeed.
The task for the writing the Ritual of Revival was given to Celidon
while Khandava and Kinsarmar continued to work on the other rituals.
Meanwhile, the next to be performed was the Ritual of Water. A gruesome
battle, Khandava and Kinsarmar nearly lost the battle against the
stronger fighters of Stavenn who had arrived to fight against those
performing the ritual. However, both the Undine and the Zephyr joined
the battle, and along side the forces that had gathered at Rayalan's
request, were able to beat back Stavenn long enough to successfully
complete the ritual and flee.
