Hymn of Misery

Written by: Lilith de Lioncourt
Date: Friday, October 31st, 2003
Addressed to: Everyone

I looked into a mirror today
To stare my demons in the eye
I cringed and screamed at what I saw
It made me wish that I would die
I cut my wrist and hoped to see
My troubles bleeding out of me
Instead I saw the blatant truth
I've wasted my entire youth

Fed by failures and false hopes
My fears and insecurities
Become much more than I can cope
And drown me in my misery
And so I reign in my own hell
Sitting on my throne of lies
My manners, charm and mysteries
Acting as a thin disguise
To hide the truth from those who try
To delve too deep inside my mind
And learn the secrets that I hide
The horrifying truths theyd find
The things about me know one knows
The darkest portions of my soul
The parts of me that I despise
A cheat, a thief, a queen of lies

And so I build my wall of pain
Darker than the darkest night
Impenetrable to anything
Blocking out all forms of light
A wall that I can hide behind
A place I suffer silently
Where I strum my harp of agony
And sing my Hymn of misery

Penned by my hand on the 4th of Ferinus, in the year 418 AD.
