Wasting Time

Here I go again
Wasting time like yesterday.
Like the day before that
And so on and so forth.
Could there be better things to do
Like curing cancer or the common cold?
Could I make something of this wasted time
But would I love it just as much?
No one can waste time like I can
And ponder the imponderables.
I like to think of simple things
Like what is the song a rainbow sings?
Or what kind of noise does the grass make?
Who does the wind whisper to?
Why do birds chirp as they do?
And there I go, humming along with the best of them
Trying my best to keep the tune.
Wasting time like yesterday
Like the day before that.
And so on and so forth
Outside.

Penned by my hand on the 16th of Tenebrae, in the year 426 AD.
