Prayer to Lord Janus

Written by: Child of the Wood, Galena, Wildling
Date: Thursday, March 11th, 2004
Addressed to: Everyone

there is a flower in a courtyard
of a long forgotten place
who dares to bloom among the rubble
- dares to show its face
in Springtime it begins to blossom
stronger than it seems
but the weeds that choke the lands surrounding
laugh at all its dreams
during Summer it wishes to stretch far
staring at the Sun
though the heat seems overwhelming
its petals unfold, one by one
in Autumn the wind threatens
to blow it far away
but its stalk is firm and green
and refuses to be swayed
Winter's icy barrenness
freezes its determined soul
but in Spring it shall bloom again
on life it will not relinquish its hold
Lord Janus, let me grow and learn
through all the Seasons of Time
and in the bad as well as the good
wisdom, let me find
let me be like this flower
let me weather all my storms
with unweary resolve and hope
touched by the promise of warmth

Galena Soiraya

Penned by my hand on the 2nd of Aequitas, in the year 428 AD.
