The Masked Artist

If there was a way
That I could save today
I played it back in my head

I would once upon a time
back when you were mine
But we took back all we had said

You sit against the tide
I hear the angel's cry
shaking my head as it sweeps you away

You fight against the tide
I know I can't make it all right
turning my back as it sweeps you away

The harp makes a sound
brings be back around
I pay my dues and leave

I think about that day
You're just an actor in my play
And I don't have the time to grieve

You sat against the tide
I refused the angel's lie
And now I'm falling as it sweeps you away

Yeah, you went out with the tide
And I took back what was mine
replacing my mask as it sweeps you away

Penned by my hand on the 25th of Bellum, in the year 435 AD.
