Stupid girls lament

Written by: Nivza Pae'ganis Tellaris, Knight Errant

Addressed to: Everyone

I watched, and I waited,
stupid girl that I was
thinking I could compete
in this horrible game of love
promised I would wait
I stood with a smile
daggers in my gut
as you dated for awhile
always laughing with you
teasing you and cracking jokes
each day I watched
there died a little more hope
You wanted me to promise
forever to be friends
so I promised
friends to the end.
I didn't say when the end would be
I deliberately didn't tell
I promised nothing would change
with that smile you knew so well
Nothing will change
you have my word
I will be dancing and laughing
if you marry that girl
Pardon me if you would
if I don't stay for long
that type of party
just isn't my song.
No.. nothing will change
how could it honestly?
for anything to change
I'd have to be here for you to see me.
So I gave you my word
and you have it so true
but you'll forgive me I'm sure
if I don't come to see you.
I'm not fond of pain
I'm no big masochist
you knew my past
god knows you've heard the list
now it's been told to meyou've made your choice
everyone knows now
she's got your heart and voice
so you don't have to pretend
that anything will ever be
as I hoped it would
for you and me.

Penned by my hand on the 12th of Tenebrae, in the year 441 AD.

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
