The Colder Wind

Written by: Sir Anarion Reopev, Knight Errant
Date: Wednesday, June 8th, 2005
Addressed to: Everyone

Spring was the harshest month that I had to endure,
With the sun staring me down, and warming my skin.
And there you stood in the flower covered dress,
A smile, a hope, and my name on your lips.
How I longed for Winter.
A chance to escape into the snows,
A chance to rot in that cold,
A salvation forged in pain.
I still had summer, though.
And you still had a reason to stay.
The sun only grew louder, more accusatory,
And I thought that Winter might never come for me.
How I longed for Winter.
To no longer hear your fragile voice.
To no longer have to see you hopeful eyes.
A salvation forged in forgetting.
In the fall, I stood waiting like a child,
Waiting for something I believed i'd want.
You felt me slipping, and began to grip,
Telling me of all we could have.
And then, I began to wish winter away.
I wondered if I could face Spring with you,
I wondered if could survive Summer with you.
And I saw what fall had brought.
I fought it, betraying my benefactor Winter,
Throwing my tantrum against the cold winds.
Despite it all, Winter did come, and take you off with a bold wind,
And I could only watch, helpless, as you were swept away,
By a bitter wind, howling with sorrow.

Penned by my hand on the 6th of Letum, in the year 465 AD.

Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…
