Winter and Autumn

Turning of the leaves
Winds bringing scents of snow
Changes coming round

Each gentle breath of wind caress
The symphony of seasons
And sad, give way under duress
To Winter's cold chilled reasons
For autumn's golden rays refuse
To quiet slip into the night
Instead she'll resolutely choose
To struggle on the lonely fight
Until her branches have been bared
Of leaves and stripped of fame
She'll gather the dignity left spared
And hang her head in shame
Until the year has passed around
When snow no longer holds its place
Nor lingers stubborn on the ground
Then shall Autumn show her face
Yet now she must bid sweet farewell
To the land where she held sway
And old man Winter's tolling bell
Sounds closing time on Autumn's day.

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Halitus, in the year 503 AD.
