Aetherius Poetry Contest - Freeform Poem #2

Remember Me

A birth by collision -
a single potent act of creation,
deliberate, yet wholly unplanned.
With one sudden thrust, everything changed.

So small, yet so quickly running outwards,
ever expanding to take in more of the world,
eager to know and be known.
Just a small wrinkle on the surface,
yet what waters are moved beneath you unseen?
Such a mystery of depth cannot be exposed
without destroying you utterly.

Alas, this world was too small for you,
your perfect form colliding cruelly
against the harsh realities.
No single wave, despite such grand promise,
can hope to tear down the mountains.
Your gentleness deserved better than to be
dashed hopelessly away, coming to a violent end.

And so you left this world, never to be seen again,
yet the thoughts you stirred, the currents you began -
they linger on, rippling endlessly over this small spring.

Someone close was once taken away due to circumstances and powers that
were completely beyond her control. It took me a long time to find a way
to describe it until I noticed the raindrops on a lake. It seemed just
about perfect.

Penned by my hand on the 20th of Bellum, in the year 533 AD.

Onward to 2021
