Cost of Peace

Written by: Evijan Landstrider

Red grass grows tall
drenched
dripping
Blades slick with the fallen
The fires lick high
scorching
searing
Ground purged black
The smoke raises to the skies
Dense
Thick
Offerings to the gods and warriors
So here we lay this shrine
So here we lay the lilies white
There we stood and here we fell
And now we stand in silence
By blood this peace was bought
tainted, afflicted
Yet peace we have
In this, we honour the dead
Precious peace
Such a cost
victory

E.L.

Penned by my hand on the 9th of Aequitas, in the year 571 AD.
