Poetry News Post #867

Packaged

Written by: Fitz Farrell

Addressed to: Everyone

At first the feeling's wonderful
your package full of bliss,
All wrapped in care, so colourfull
its venom's hard to miss.

To start with such great emotion
your understanding ears,
But this trust you've built
you rip apart, if only for the tears.

Slow to perceive these omens
but the Siren's gaining ground,
My soul, her song now opens
she fills me with her sound.

The silence here perpetuates
when Siren takes her song,
This space in here reverberates
and fights for what is gone.

So like a broken wind-up toy
you rattle out a sound,
Enough to capture ears again
they huddle at the ground.

And on this ground a package
wrapped with coloured, shiny string,
And in our box, my memories
my Siren-singing-dream.

Untie my string and pull it free
pull away the lid,
The smell of aged and lose debris
are all that occupy this cage.

Penned by my hand on the 7th of Naturalis, in the year 591 AD.
