Greetings again Aetherius,
Well it would seem this little contest has had an effect.
My dear Lady Astridyna, I have always been under the impression that war
was at it's core the struggle of one to prove their superiority over
another. Maybe I am mistaken and it is purely a game played to pass the
time, feel free to message me if I am wrong. However if I am right my
Poetry War is a way for those who feel that they have what it takes to
win a battle of words, to take up their weapons and strike out against
all opposition. I would call it a war, quills as opposed to swords and
ink instead of blood, in the end someone will stand triumphant, should
you care to enter it could be you!
Now to address the Wordsmith who partially inspired my idea, Volpe I am
sorry you are so offended by my method to encourage others to reach into
their souls and bring forth such creativity as you have yourself
displayed. I put up the prize money purely to attract those who perhaps
need that bit of an incentive to try to create something that they
otherwise would not even consider. Surely this is a noble cause? Picture
the warmongering beast who slays innocents and burns villages, enticed
to take part in something purely for the reward he can get out of it. In
the creation of his poem he or she finds a hidden talent for such a
pastime and creates more beauty for the world to behold. Without the
incentive, this fiend would take everything they could out of the world
and put nothing back, because of the incentive they give the world
something to admire, something that perhaps gives hope to those that
have been hurt by their warmongering. Many things can come of this
event, this example is perhaps far-fetched but none-the-less illustrates
a positive coming from a negative. Choose to take part or not it is your
decision, think less of me if you will, I care not, my friends and many
others can have some fun and maybe some enjoyment, while you can remain
in contempt of the whole thing but have your sense of decency in tact.
I wish you both well, and say to the rest of the realm, should you wish
to take part feel free, you do not have to accept the prize, there is no
fee to pay to enter either, no profit will be made of this and though I
am considering making a journal to display the entries, all entrants
will be asked for their permission first before their work is displayed.
Have fun, to the victor the spoils
