In fact, when Raerka refused to give me the Worldweaver, I left the
Aloyvan, after attempting and failing to take it by force. She sent me a
tell asking if I were coming back, and I told her she could have the
glaive and the demons could have the world, it made no difference to me.
It was her idea to duel for the glaive, a duel I won fairly. Having done
so, I took the Worldweaver and used it, as I was instructed by the
Wendigo and confirmed by the Queen herself. The resulting forces
unleashed destroyed it. Nothing could be done about it.
Now, since I won the glaive in a fair fight, which was not of my
choosing, the weapon was my property. It was not lent. It was won. And
if anyone claims that once I had the glaive, conditions were placed on
its return is mistaken. The previous ownver of the glaive was not in any
condition to speak on the subject. And since it was my property, if I
had it, I would not give it up. However, since it was destroyed, I could
not give it back even if I wanted to.
Has anyone asked the Aloyvan ladies how they came into possession of the
glaive in the first place? There's no forge there. The last vestiges of
the old Wardens fled the harsh forests of the north, disoriented and
confused, harried by demons, beset on all sides. They wandered, clinging
to a hope that the powerful glaive they bore with them would guide them.
And they ended up in the Aloyvan. Where they were all slain outright,
and their possessions looted from them. The glaive was a spoil of battle
then and in recent history. It shattered in the hands of the one who had
the right by duty and by combat to use it.
So, I did what was intended with the tool intended. And thereby, mostly
by accident, I guess I sort of saved the world. Pretty much every day
I've been given reason to regret it. I'm sorry I broke the Worldweaver.
It'll never happen again, believe me.
