Concerning the Xuir

I think a few things should be cleared up about the Xuir by someone who
knows what happened and not by those who speculate. I was present during
the critical moment that the aggression and hatred that the Xuir have
was truly made.

Kinsarmar had been housing both the Xuir and Ryadai, offering neutral
ground that the refugees could stay peacefully and safely. There, at the
time, was much speculation over who was the right side and the wrong
side since both told the same story. Until such a time this could be
figured out, we offered our homes and establishments as safe havens.

Soon, we also gave safety and shelter to the Ryadai captain, Yinteth,
who politely accepted our terms of guest status to all the present Xuir.
He followed our rules to the letter and was very polite and obliging so
we had no problems with him staying there.

The day that he was killed, I heard him call out "Assassin!" and so I
rushed to his side. A Xuir scout sent by Cargan and lead by Devin killed
Yinteth on the spot and called us all aiders of the enemy. Knowing of
all the Xuir refugees we had harbored, Danopt and I went to find the
scout to bring him back to his people so that he'd feel he could make
them safe. When we caught up with them, I was immediately assailed by
accusations of wishing to kill the scout and/or himself.

I tried to speak to the very excited captain Cargan but he would not
listen and only called me a liar and deciever. Gritting my teeth, I told
him I would go and bring the Xuir in Kinsarmar to him. I will admit to
being quite irritated at being accused of this and having my integrity
questioned by someone who does not know me. Even when two of my
guildmates and members of the Celidon spoke of my trustworthiness, the
ones he said he trusted with his life, he would not listen.

Bringing back a small handful so I could hurry and give a sign of good
faith and unable to gather more, I went back. He again insisted I was a
liar and deciever, and not only that but a poor liar as well. He said
that he would be using them in his army. It was then I lost patience.
Not only did this corpulant captain order people around as if he were
king of the world, people he has no place ordering about, but he also
expected these poor refugees to die for him while he sat safely hidden
somewhere and watched. I asked him why he did not come to Kinsarmar to
get his people himself if he was so worried about them and he only
replied he had to watch over the ones already back with him.

To make a longer story short, Kyar returned the rest of the Xuir to
Cargan who still proceeded to insult us and speak down to us. I left
because my tongue was loosened, to say the least, and I could not stand
one more moment with the fat Xuir who was going to send his people into
a war he would likely not lead except from his "throne" in the Celidon.

The Xuir hate Kinsarmar for trying to be a peaceful people and hold off
one more war until things were sorted out. The Xuir hate because the
poor refugees have no voice against those larger powers who play them
like pawns and thus follow their lead. They may feel as they wish.

Invite them into your cities if you wish. Speak your words against
Kinsarmar for temporarily banning a people that already despise us if
you wish. But do not assume that they have been repressed in any way by
our city. They did not want to be here to begin with so there really
shouldn't be a problem though, it seems most love a good opportunity to
play their politics.

I know I did what was right that night. I do not cater to those that
question my honor and integrity. Nor do I feel it's right that someone
who is so "oppressed" and worried about the freedoms of his people sit
in safety and luxury while those poor masses are killed and sent to
kill. Cargan bit a hand that helped him.

Spring's blessings,
Wren Caelis

2021 and Beyond

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
