The Essential Nature of Magick

I share the perspective voiced by Mistress Aislin in the matter of
magick and the dishonor it receives from some quarters. Though I have
not yet earned my laurels as a true mage, I am a scholar of the arcane,
and I have uncommon knowledge of the true nature of magick. a

In my researches, I have encountered a scroll dating back at least as
far as the beginning of the Second Age and possibly farther. In strange
and almost comically elliptical language, the work defines magick as
nothing less than the mystic blood of Lord Avasyu himself.

This is in accord with a rare tradition of my people, the Sidhe, which
tells how Lord Avashu made Aetherius by biting his wrist and blowing the
resulting blood onto the Primal Dark.

In essence, then, magick is not some obscene anomaly, but an emanation
of the very essence and will of Lord Avasyu himself. Therefore, I should
like not to read or hear any more diatribes against the Arts Magickal
and the artists who practice them. We are worthy --at least!-- of the
most fervent courtesies and the gravest respect.

It is my belief, based upon this knowledge, that the priests
antagonistic to magick are aware of the close relationship between mages
and the Maker. For it suggests that we are not merely clever
vibrationists, but the True and Secret Priests of Aetherius!

Penned by my hand on the 17th of Aequitas, in the year 457 AD.
