This road

I will be succinct.

This road has no place in Ithaqua. We are a land that has forgone the
"noble" aspects of civilization. We have embraced what it is to truly
live, to survive on your own merits. Not because it would be a crime to
kill someone because they are weak. But to survive because you have
proven yourself better, stronger, or smarter than those who do not
survive.

The beauty of Ithaqua lies in its remoteness. This is why the Ithaquan
ancestors traveled there to make their home. They wanted to be separated
from the constant wars and bickering of the southerners. They wanted an
escape from the taints that were growing in those lands. Let us maintain
that remoteness. Let us maintain what it is is to be Ithaquan. It is
akin to asking Antioch accept magickers or for Kinsarmar to forgo
magicks. It simply goes against our nature.

I can assure you, that while I make this request now, we will fight
tooth and nail to prevent the encroachment into Ithaqua. The dwarves
have heard my say, that they may build the road as far north as the
northern edge of the Bardosi, but no further. This meets their
requirement, as they have built a road to Ithaqua, and not into Ithaqua.
I had hoped they would realize that, and accept their job as done.

Selthis
Hierophant of Ithaqua

Penned by my hand on the 4th of Artificium, in the year 472 AD.
