Misunderstanding Civilization

Written by: Arek Verruil, Dreamweaver

The time has come for all of us to confront a growing misconception
about Civilization and its Lord. Some of you believe that it is Lord
Zanik's intent to destroy nature, or that His realm is simply that of
cold and faceless stone. You want no part of it, and you will work to
impede its progress.

I would like to remind you that you ARE Civilization. Every one of you
reading this is a part of Civilization, barring only the most reclusive
hermit who happened to find his way to a news board, but will return to
his cave before bumping into another sentient being.

Civilization is not architecture or masonry, these are just two of the
infinite forms its fulfillment may take. This is a confusion growing
even among those who were once faithful to Lord Zanik, to my great
disappointment. Civilization is community and collaboration, and it
exists everywhere men gather. Over my years in service, many have took
opposition. Rasca, Risca, Glendar, among others, have all tried to
denounce Civilization not realizing that because they too are part of
Lord Zanik's domain.

To serve Civilization is simply the work toward the perfection of all of
men's endeavors. At its core is the spirit which allows men to
cooperate. It is the pursuit of cooperation, and the will to adhere to
the ultimate good despite difficulties along the way. Civilization is
the foremost gift given to mortals by the Divine, because it is the gift
by which we can continuously improve our own lot in life.

I call upon all of you to remember this, and to understand that no
matter what your stances, the furtherance of Civilization is in your
best interests. If you have any interest at all in furthering the lot of
humankind, I ask you to speak with myself or any other servant of Lord
Zanik. The more who listen, the more of our own potential we can
fulfill. To those of you who have forgotten or refuse to listen, I can
only express my sorrow that you are so blinded as to impede the progress
of your own lives.

Penned by my hand on the 19th of Aequitas, in the year 483 AD.

Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
