The bards have simple rules and regulations regarding gaining the bardic
profession. Gaining permission is not an arduous process. If you wish to
gain it from the Bards, you may start this process by asking a secretary
or the guildmaster, who will then follow the simple protocol for
approval or determining disapproval. Attempting to subvert or bypass
this, such as suggesting that someone apprentice one and then "ask about
it later" will result in being enemied to the guild and possibly forever
denied the profession from that angle.

If you can't wait for a month or two to know if you'll get approval,
don't bother asking. I don't have time to deal with impatient idiots and
nor does the guild.
