Nepenthe Bercalion,
Sometimes I wonder how you became the Tribal Mother of the An'sheri. I
assume it could very well have been the lack of options since the guild
seems primarily comprised of young women that insult the word "An'sheri"
by calling themselves such. You, however, are the greatest disgrace to
the title.
"An'sheri" once meant a woman of strength, independence,
self-sufficiency, and wisdom, none of which you seem to possess. You
walk away from an Iron Code, disrespect it and the customs of the
Council with which you affiliated yourself. As you built your haven in
Ithaqua, you aligned yourself with the principles and beliefs of the
Pines. Blatantly, you and yours chose to place your oaths to one another
above all else--above Ithaqua, our principles, and our culture. You lack
the independence and self-sufficiency of a true woman of strength as you
rely on arbitrary laws, beliefs, and ceremonies. You rely on your
"Sisters" to support your every decision unless they wish to be cast and
branded a 'traitor'. Recent events have exemplified this as you have
forced your guild members to choose between home, family, and tribe. Any
thought of making an educated decision was met with skepticism and
claims of disloyalty. And as you make accusations of traces of the Red
Maiden remaining in the frozen north, you only perpetuate the cycle of
anger and further demonstrate your lack of wisdom and intelligence.
You claim it is this oath to one another, your tribe, that will allow
you to thrive, and yet all I have seen it do is tear apart families and
friends, abandon and cast out those that do not fit, take away homes,
and destroy trust and coherent thought among a number of women. You
claim this loyalty to each other above all else makes you stronger, and
all I have seen it do is weaken promising young women and addle the
minds of the old. I can assure you, "Mintara", that the brothers of the
Wardens, the assassins of the Idras, and the scholars of the
Frostbringers are far stronger than your tribe will ever be. We are
strong because we stand together, not only as Wardens, Idras, and
Frostbringers, but as Ithaquans. We support each other, and boundaries
of guild and guild practice do not separate us from one another. We
maintain strength and independence while recognizing we are stronger
together than standing aside and alone when survival matters most. We
have our strengths and weaknesses, our focuses and our specialties, but
we all possess a greater pride in Ithaqua. We are Ithaquan before we are
Wardens, Idras, and Frostbringers, and it is the Wendigo to which we
have sworn ourselves. It is this alliance of faith, trust, and devotion
that gives us strength. To seek affiliation with Ithaqua involves you
knowing, understanding, and accepting this, and you will fail at doing
so, again. After all, that is what got you into this situation in the
first place.
Your idiocy refuses to allow you to know this. Your stubbornness refuses
to allow you to understand this. Your pride refuses you to accept this.
Your oath sets you apart, yes, as a fool.
Your tribe is weak, and you will die in the wastes of Ithaqua and in the
dunes of the Shaahri. You will be at fault, for instead of making the
slightest attempt to understand the problem, you run and hide. You
drivel and accuse all but yourself of wreaking such havoc upon your
beloved tribe. You felt personally insulted, and your anger overcame
you, abasing your tribe alongside you. If your Sisters were truly the
An'sheri of old, they would not have followed you on such a mindless and
destructive journey.
