I just wanted to thank you, deeply and from the bottom of my heart, for
teaching me so well that idealism is wasted, that hard work has no value
at all, that camaraderie and decades of working and fighting together
mean absolutely nothing, and that CR2 after 27 years of selfless service
is special treatment.

There, see? All that time and wisdom wasn't wasted after all.
