So called 'protectors' of nature

Nobody protects nature.

If I flense your flesh from your bones and wear it as a suit it may be more efficient, but nobody would claim that I'm protecting humanity and most would consider my actions a crime against humanity. Similarly, if trees could talk (an absurd notion I'm aware, but indulge me), they would likely argue that gutting their breatheren and living within the innards or chopping them into orderly pieces is a crime against their kind.

You so called protectors of nature tear down trees to build your traps, hide behind wooden siege engines for protection augmented by ores ripped from the landscape, kill, carve up, and move trees to your homes and even your groves for protection in the form of totems, regularly run caravans that carry the 'dead' elements of nature and bend them to your will for unnatural purposes.

And much as I UTTERLY AND COMPLETELY DESPISE claiming that a fool Antiochan might actually be right about something, the truth is that nature does not entangle one in vines and throw people out of rooms without some sort of assistance so the reality is you use nature as a tool just as much as I do. Just because I decide nature works best when it is reshaped into colossal walls and you think it works best when you're gutting it and living inside it doesn't make you anymore at one with nature than I am.

This is not a condemnation, this is simply a wake-up call. No matter how much you like to pretend you're a defender of nature, you're still raping it. Now, I hate hypocrisy and deciet, I don't mind so much when somebody acknowledges they're a hypocrit because I can understand self-interest, and I recognize that as mortals we are prone to errors and hypocritical and deceptive actions as a result of that imperfection, but I can't stand when somebody tries to claim that they're neither when evidence and simple logic prove otherwise. Because of this, from this post onward I intend to slay any who publically and seriously proclaim that they are a defender of nature unless they can prove that they are doing what they are saying they are doing. This means attacking those who destroy or tear down that which is 'natural', which includes those who cut down wood for siege, traps, etc.

If you don't want to read all that, then I have a weaker but far shorter argument: It is the nature of mortals to twist the world to their will and they only seek to preserve the world as is if it becomes a necessity of survival. The very act of protecting nature when it is not an immediate necessity of survival is, in fact, contrary to nature. Again, not a condemnation, just a statement of fact.

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…
