The Order of Civilization

A civilization is much more than a collection of buildings and paved roads, it represents a confluence of cultures and a convergence of both people and ideas. Civilizations drive progress, they are the sparks that bring advancements like toxicology, alchemy, engineering, and modern smithing into being. A civilization comes naturally whenever two people work together for mutual gain, and collectively they form the founding stones of society.

In the past two centuries we have seen this trait blossom across Aetherius as numerous cities, councils, townes, and guilds have both grown and flourished. The civilization that was once considered a characteristic of Antioch has been embraced across the realm. The flames of creativity burn bright, and that influence has been widely felt. The world has grown, and its citizens should be proud of that growth.

So as the Order of Civilization steps from the past and into the current age, minor changes must be made to embrace this modern world as it is. The Order formally acknowledges the role of councils and the importance that they play in spreading both culture and progress to their sections of the world. In addition, the Order formally opens its membership to any who wish to play a part. It is my goal that the knowledge and insights gained from membership improve the world as a whole. We are a collection of grand ideas, and of the dreamers capable of seeing those ideas become grand realities.

Finally, the Order of Civilization is not an organization founded for violence and does not seek war for the sake of war. In the interest of reconciliation, those Antiochians that were recently enemied for defiling shrines have been granted amnesty. The only person to be removed from the Order in recent years was cast out for abusing Divine powers to aid in the removal of loyal shrines. Our philosophies promote discussion and debate, not isolation or hatred.

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Ferinus, in the year 608 AD.
