Mana combustion, or the use of mental reserves as I like to think about
it, is not inherently magickal, and is not at the heart of every
`magick` ability, like you say. Example? Runelore requires no mana
consumption in the slightest, where as Clerical Healing abilities
require a great deal. The use of mental reserves have very little
relation to whether or not the source of an ability is Divine or not. I
certainly do not utter quick prayers before I open myself to kai energy,
or force my own mind upon the weak wills of others, but my mental
reserves are consumed just the same. Your claim about the necromantic
ability to see through illusions due to the lack of heat does not
explain anything, as that very same ability can `see through` true
tricks of the mind (the kind I utilize).
