Ok, I will try to be brief with this.
As some before have mentioned, the only matter that is important at the
moment is whether or not this man claiming to be a Warden is, in fact,
guilty of the accusations brought against him in a public forum.
Now, any level-headed person would surely agree that you do not
immediately hand over the accused into the hands of those who are
already convinced of the person's guilt. There is simply no good that
can come of this course of action.
What would the world be if we simply allowed guilds, cities, or even
individuals to convict and condemn any which they found deserving? Not
one I would like to live it. I am sure many of you can recall instances
when actions or circumstances in your own lives were misjudged by
another, would you hand yourself to that person for judgement? I think
not.
There is only one course of action here which is both logical and just,
and it is the one Harker has been seeking. In this instance, Harker is
correct. The man should be given to his guild to be delt with. I am
quite sure Harker is capable of inflicting punishment enough for
whatever the crime that was committed, and even though the "justice" of
the Wardens may not be what we all see as correct, it is the law of the
warden's this man subjected himself to when joining the guild, therefore
it would be wise to let him be judged by his peers, not his enemies.
I must ask, Lady Phoen...exactly what good do you see in holding this
man? I know, you say to keep him from defiling anymore women, but
surely, you had to count the cost of this decision before you made it. .
.you had to know the Wardens would respond exactly as they have. . .
Or, perhaps you did consider all these things...and they are exactly
what you wanted.... eh?
What better way to both rally support for your new guild and firmly
establish that your views are correct, than by capturing one of those
who you choose to squabble with (I realize that it is not a one sided
squabble, but my point remains the same), labeling him a rapist, which
of course immediately gains you sympathy from women and men all over,
and making a public spectacle of him knowing his guildmates would
retaliate, making them look like the aggressor and you the innocent
victims...
Yes...that appears to me to be a logical summation of this whole mess.
But perhaps my logic is flawed, perhaps my eyes see only part of the
story...in which case I would ask that you please enlighten me. It just
seems to me, that if you wanted him for anything less than a source of
attention, something would have already been done, and this would have
been over by now.
None of these observations are meant as an endorsement of either side
here...they are simply my thoughts on the matter, and yes, they are the
thoughts of one who is himself enlightened.
Just as a side note, Harker, I did catch your responce to Sir Judicius,
and I will give you the benefit of the doubt and take your comments
quite literally, and not with the sarcastic tone they -could- have been
taken in. It is the duty of the followers of the Light to share our
wisdom with those still lost in darkness, and it is our delight to do
so.
In service always to the Light,
