Antioch

Christoph, clearly, you have made a mistake. You wonder why Antioch has
enemied you, and then you wonder why one attacked you without warning,
for no particular reason, in the middle of Caanae. Normally, this would
not be call for concern, except for one thing - you apparently expected
the sand-squatters to actually think.

You see, my friend, Antioch has a long history of losing, and whining
about it, and then taking it out on others. The city was founded by
those who lost power in Stavenn and ran away instead of dealing with it.
Then, attacked by the demon hordes, they promptly outlawed magick within
their walls - simply because they feared that which was more powerful
than them.

Antioch is a city living in denial, Cristoph. They want to go back to a
time when the moons had never shattered, and they could sit around in
Caanae cutting up plants and wondering why the sky is blue. They refuse
to accept that the world has changed. Because they are weaker than
Magick, they fear it. And because they fear it, they lash out at it.

You are but one of the latest victims of this madness, my friend.
Antioch won't listen to you, unfortunately. As for finding someone to
talk to about removing your enemy status - I'm afraid you're out of
luck. Take a look at the city's leaders. You have Silken Pae'Ganis,
leader of the clerics, a woman who feels so intimidated by magick that
she resorts to petty insults and jibes. You have the Justicars, a guild
so small as to be practically nonexistent. Finally, you have the
Wardancers, those so scared of magick that they have to paint their
faces with ludicrous paints and tie absurd ribbons onto their sticks to
feel secure.

I am sorry for your misfortune, Cristoph, but I don't think you're about
to see Antioch change their bloodthirsty ways anytime soon.

Penned by my hand on the 16th of Tenebrae, in the year 440 AD.

Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
