A magick wielder is no more in control of the powers they wield than a
Cleric wielding that of the Divine, unless you can claim complete
control of powers granted by another being.
"...disrespectful and blasphemous of the Divine."
I use magick not for a single drop of greed. I am a bard, a seeker of
knowledge, and a performer. I wield the Divine powers granted to me as
well. Secondly, as I said before, it is not Blasphemy to -the- Divine.
It is Blasphemy to a divine, or several Divine. I take pains to make
sure I do not place words in your Ladies' and Lords' mouths, I would
appreciate you take pains to respect the other Divine, and do not place
words in Theirs.
You are correct, using Magick is dangerous in some areas. It is also
heavilly beneficial in others, and on top of this, these surges and
backfires seem to be partially reliant of the belief of the people
there. Bards may sing freely in Ithaqua, and Necromancy is used freely
there as well. My views on necromancy aside, it is obvious that these
surges are affected by mortal belief, at least to some level. Part of
using magick is using it responsibly, and using it in an area that may
cause unexpected results, is certainly not doing that.
I know much of what truly matters. I was around for the Shards. If a
fragment of something imbued with powers beyond your comprehension,
-any- power, be it that of a Divine or not, touched you, I would expect
it would have a huge effect on you as well. I have seen people of
Antioch do things that are capable of destroying your body, and altering
you in multiple ways. Should I label them as Tainted? No. They wield a
power. It is the user's fault in how they use it.
Magick can be used for many wonderful deeds, and is. Devotion can be
used for many wonderful deeds, and is. Both can be used for many
horrific deeds, and are.
I care not if you wish to continue the argument, as my main concern is
your continued disrespect to the Divine that do not believe such is
Blasphemy. You can keep your views as long as you wish, all I wish is
respect for Those that deserve it.
