Wait. I think there's only one or two of those left. Scratch that
subject matter.
To: The more experienced knights (that are still in the guild anyway) of
Kinsarmar.
I will commend your efforts in this latest war. But. Not your common
sense.
How disappointed am I in you. First you call me out on childish lies,
claims of disloyalty, murder me in the guildhall of the Lorekeepers and
then claim anything done with the guild during the last few guildmasters
(wait, you've had a few more the last five years) during a handful of
guildmasters ago, was inefficient or just 'not good' for the guild. Or
Kinsarmar.
Then. You go and oust most of your elder guildmembers based on jumpy
conclusions, dislikes of personality, conflictions of opinions and what
might be 'Best for Kinsarmar'. But why should that be different from
those Lorekeepers who have preceeded you and done the same, you ask?
Ah. That is the question of the day. Of the year. Dis, the question of
the whole time Milanthor was gone. But to know is to pinpoint the being
and existance of a Kinsarmarian knight, really. Hmm, since I won't be
able to convince you that you're totally blind at the moment with rage
still numbing your senses, I'll speak to the youth of your guild.
Aspiring Kinsarmarian knights:
I figured this would be the only time you get to be introduced to the
disdainful words of THE LOREKEEPER CODE before you're knighted in about
fourty years. Unless you're a current Lorekeeper who's snuck into the
guild and have kept hush-hush about the things you have done to harm
Kinsarmar or the Lorekeepers in your past.
Then you know better what a Lorekeeper should be and know you shouldn't
be there at all.
A code, sometimes, is what a person grows, lives, and walks by in the
path of life. For you to read the Code of the Lorekeepers is not just to
see what qualities and style a Lorekeeper *should* possess, but also to
honour the Code as a cherished thing. To walk the path of righteousness
in following these words is to *be* a Lorekeeper. Any title in the world
can be given to you, but if you do not walk true and straight by what
you say you do, or vow you do, no title in the world can bear you
honour. Or chivalrous nature. Or respect. Or truth.
A Lorekeeper must always strive to be:
Honourable and show honour. Honour is not to be confused with pride. If
you have the capability to set aside pride at any time you have the
capacity of being honourable. Treat pride as the ability to find
personal glory in deeds or accomplishments of growth of your spirit,
mind, soul and future. Honouring something also means giving respect to
that which demands admonition. Always be polite in manner and language.
Remember that you are a reflection and example of your guild, city or
immortal patron; be mindful of how you act in every situation.
Respectful and show respect. Your elders, peers, authority, friends,
family, enemies, differences, individuality; all must be respected. Do
not confuse respect with obedience- for showing respect is different
than honouring another with it. Respect all forms of weaknesses;
constitute yourself the defender of them if the cause is right and just.
Respect life and freedom; preserve both. Also, no Lorekeeper, even in
jest, should bring a blade or harm any other Lorekeeper unless training
or sparring.
A champion of the innocent and ever chivalrous. Chivalry is seeking
always the 'right' path, unencumbered by bias or personal interest. You
must not only -in championing a person or a cause- use the strike of
your blade but use your wit, wisdom and attuned knowledge in deciding
what should or should not be championed. Never abandon a friend, ally or
noble cause.
Truthful, honest and honest to himself or herself. Do not lie, cheat or
commit acts that give reason for another to doubt your honesty. Strive
always to be true to your principles and the maintainance of them. To
lie to yourself is to walk a path that is a lie. To lie to another is to
hurt relationships with someone or something and blemish your integrity.
The word of a Lorekeeper is -sacred-; no one should have cause to doubt
this.
Dutiful, loyal and obedient. Your life is given in protection of guild,
city and immortal patron. You are bound to obey their call; the only
exception to your absolute obedience is if a command should soil your
honour or infringe upon the liberty of another - or if the command is
inhumane. You should not seek any material advantage or social honour in
service; A Lorekeeper should freely serve that which the path of the
Lorekeepers is devoted to. Seek to defend, too, those who you believe
worthy of your loyalty.
Generous. Never greed or be selfish; especially if you have the chance
to help a cause or person you consciously know is less fortunate than
yourself or is in need of aide only you can provide.
An adminster of justice. Your sword of passion for justice must also be
tempered with mercy, humanity and compassion. It is these qualities that
guard us against being injust to our fellow men and women. Learn to
understand the nature of the need to uphold justice before you act or
you tread upon the path of wrathful, vengeful nature. Remember; we shall
find truth when we examine the problem because the problem is never
apart from the answer.
Also qualities of a knight:
faith, patience, perserverance, courtesy, humility, diligence, noble,
prowess, and valour
So. Young Lorekeepers. I charge you, as a former Lorekeeper, to look to
your hearts and to the Code in which you have dedicated yourselves...
...so that you will not falter as those before you have. So that you
will walk as true knights with true purpose in your steps, minds,
forging hammers and swords.
Look to those knights you believe are truly bearers of Lore, the Code
and loyalty to Kinsarmar. Mentor from them.
If you can find them.
