Hypocrisy

Well, I had held out some hope that it wouldn't come to personal
attacks, but so be it.

While you, Rathen, are only one of many people I was commenting upon in
my last post, it seem that you feel sufficiently justified in your
actions and that you can still claim to follow a code that is based upon
loyalty and chivalry to one's city and guild. Let's just break this down
for you then.

You mentioned to another Lorekeeper that you were about to quit the
guild and keep class and were planning on selling to Stavenn. Sure
enough, you quit the city, and where was the first place that you went?
Stavenn, of course. This was amidst a war with that city, and here you
were, planning on heading down there and selling to them. But that
doesn't make you a traitor?

In all the years you were in the guild you preached against dark
magicks. You ridiculed Stavenn endlessly and showed disgust at the likes
of Ishtar and others who were much more accepting of the dark magicks
than the guild and city was. You were a priest in Lady Eloweth's order
and preached to the congregation of the perils of dark magicks, and yet
you quit guild, city and order and joined Stavenn within a day of doing
so. And that doesn't make you a traitor? I was quite shocked when I
learned of your departure...I couldn't understand it. However, given
your post here, I now see that you are simply trying to find a way to
fit in somewhere else regardless of any values you have claimed to have
held for decades.

To you and all of the other recent classed Lorekeeper rogues, bear this
in mind. It is not merely the guild that stands for the defense and
protection of Kinsarmar, but the class itself. To see so many of you
suddenly willing to abandon your core values for the sake of helping
Stavenn is beyond disheartening...it is also treasonous. Lorekeepers are
meant to be defenders of Kinsarmar, class or no. When I see ads from
ex-Lorekeepers that are mentioning selling illegal wares to anyone who
wants them, it becomes more than a simple annoyance, it becomes cause
for force.

If you willfully retain class with the aim of harming Kinsarmar or
Kinsarmarians in any way, you will come to regret it. These words are
not idle. Unlike in recent times past, this guild has a spine and is
starting to reassert itself in its original role of Knights in defense
of Kinsarmar. A few of you have done the ultimate betrayal by leaving
the city (or breaking such laws as to render you ejected) and publicly
telling of your aims to hurt Kinsarmar. This will not be stood for, and
no amount of issues in the world will be worth the paper they are
written on so long as you go against the grain of the purpose of your
class.

Fair warning.

Ethelbert Kulmyrric, Knight-Commander of the Lorekeepers

2021 and Beyond

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
