Aetherius,
I come before you today to bring to light the progression of actions,
those taken by all parties surrounding the current unjust actions upon
Kinsarmar.
This entire incident began when Kabal, Rasca, and Lorccan assailed first
Valin, and then our city without provocation. Within the city, they
gained access to the Iscariot Manor, however only those who did not have
access to the Manor were slain within their assault upon the city. This
would imply that if they gained access through a person in the manor,
then said person was a traitor to Kinsarmar, or that Kabal, Lorccan, or
Rasca had somehow obtained a key to the house.
I ordered the house to be removed in order to prevent the use of Mark
Return to bypass the defenses of Kinsarmar without care. This reaction
was extreme, as there were other solutions, albeit ones not thought of
at the time. Regardless of the situation or solution, the house would
have had to been siezed and altered to allow for defensive access, as
has been done in all subsequent incidents. However, this is not a
perfect defense as current events have been most poignantly displaying.
Following this, Ithaquans continued to assault Kinsarmar, claiming
vengeance for a magicker's home. I find this justification hollow in the
greatest, and find it extremely suspicious that Ithaquans should care in
any manner what happens among magickers to other magickers as long as it
is not against those who choose to remain ignorant of its blessings. A
group of Kinsarmarians, discontent with these seemingly pointless and
unjustified assaults on the city, launched a counterassault.
During a conflict between these Ithaquans, after Drokthar had informed
us that he had called them off and they were working for personal
reasons against Kinsarmar, which can now be either pointed to supporting
a magicker or simply wanting to kill, an Antiochan, Lucian, came within
the battleground south of our city. Multiple Stavennites followed after
him and assailed him. Kinsarmar, seeing this, was ordered to pull back
and not intervene.
Unfortunately, due to personal conflicts, the vibrations of Vadush did
affect Silken and Lythander for a time as the two organizations battled
it out. Vadush summarily apologized and submitted himself to death by
Silken. Antioch began to assail Kinsarmar.
My talks with Silken discovered that their reasoning for assailing
Kinsarmar was that they saw it as a treaty breach that we did not help
Antioch as the Stavennites were attacking them within territory that our
own laws apply only to our own citizens being assailed. Though Silken
defends that Kinsarmar should have intervened on Antioch's behalf, the
city did not intervene on anyone's behalf. Kinsarmar never agreed to
assist Antioch in anything within the treaty so signed. Thus there was
no breach by Kinsarmar, but, in fact, by Antioch under the pretense and
misrepresentations of Silken after she had claimed the life of Vadush
and in so doing relinquished her claim of an attack on Kinsarmar as he
took personal responsibility for the action.
During the assaults on Kinsarmar by Antioch, Stavennite aid was
accepted. Twice. I do not support this, and continue not to. However,
upon returning to the realms I discover that Antioch wishes Wren and
Myself removed from office in order to make peace. Now I ask myself why,
if we had no hand in accepting Stavennite aid and caused Kinsarmar to
stand on its own when our influence was present, does Antioch, more
namely Silken, wish us to be removed. Our word has been kept relative to
Antioch, even having been active in enforcing the treaty made between
the two cities.
It then follows that Silken, and therefore Antioch, does not have any
reason unless one looks to past events. When Wysrias, Laia, and others
gained power during the previous conflict with Antioch, all attacks on
Kinsarmar ceased as if by a magick spell, or magick word from Silken?
When a new Duke was appointed, they began once more, led in part by
Silken. I then began to suspect that Silken was in league with Wysrias
and his own, whether they were knowledgable of it or not, however, it
was merely a suspicion as there was no solid or supporting evidence.
Now, however, Silken starts an assault once more, Wysrias, Laia, and his
leaving due to my becoming an Erege. And amazingly, she asks for my and
Wren's removal from erege. Our interaction with the city itself has been
limited to agreements held and enforced, or combat upon the field of
battle within war. Niether of which would reasonably befit any askance
of removal.
If anything, this seems like a grudge for those she chose to lead
Kinsarmar not having a part in it, as well as attempted vengeance either
for those who had a hand in Wysrias and Laia's leaving or over a
magicker's house. In any incident, I find these actions extremely
interesting from an Antiochan official, one who supposedly is not
intended to support magickers in any way, especially those that she was
against in an armed conflict. We Kinsarmarians have a word for actions
such as these, and that word is Treason.
Of course, this could simply be Antiochans looking for a reason to go on
a bloodthirsty rampage more befitting the early ages of Stavenn before a
resonable government, and one that I can respect in its actions despite
our philosophical differences, came to power. They could simply be
wanting to kill without restraint, though if they were, I wish there
would at least be admittance to it.
As I am not, omniscient, however, I am certain Silken and Antioch will
have a reasonable response to this that I managed to oversee. At least I
hope they have one within the bounds of reality, and I eagerly await
that response.
Sincerely,
Mathiu Kith'Vahni
