Ryax and Treachery

Aetherius,

It seems a very vocal and very former member of my city decided he
wished to sieze power, quoting the following.

II. Duke: The head of the ruling council.

This is not an elected position. The Duke is chosen from the ruling
council, by the council. Once chosen, the Duke can not be replaced
easily.

If ten or more citizens message one Erege during a one year period,
stating they wish a new Duke, a referendum must be created. It will only
have two options: Retain the current Duke, or select a new Duke. Upon a
majority vote, the Ereges will select a Duke or retain the old as shown.
The ten messages must be posted to the Royal Council of Kinsarmar before
the referendum is opened, and only messages from citizens who have been
a citizen of Kinsarmar for at least two years prior will be counted.

If the ruling council decides they require a new Duke, they must hold a
meeting within the council. If three out of the five Ereges feel a new
leader is necessary, they may select a new Duke/Duchess from the
remaining four Ereges.
He was under the misconception that the second paragraph was a
requirement for the third and thus decided to declate martial law and
suspend the Canon. While unfortunate, the matter has now been attended
to.

After an extended discussion with him hin which he repeatedly harped on
this, I asked him if he was done. He stated he was, and I removed him
from the city. After reports that he was attempting to incite further
rebellion, he was declared an enemy to the city. Afterward, he ousted
those mages that did not support him from the mages.

Since his accusations are against me, I'm more than comfortable in
allowing the council to vote on this matter of his being enemied for
treason. Ryax, sadly, did not expect to get due process that he so
msitakenly claimed was suspended. The Minister of War has never had the
power to suspend the Canon or declare Martial Law. After this incident,
I doubt it will.

If I am found in error by the council, the rest will speak for itself.
Kinsarmar will continue abiding by the laws that it has recorded as long
as I remain Duke.

Sincerely,
Mathiu Kith'Vahni
